InBetween
2025
InBetween was created during a residency at Nida Art Colony, where I set out to understand the surrounding forest and coastline by walking through the landscape and observing it closely. I used different technologies — a camera, audio recorders, and 3D scanning — as tools to document my surroundings and collect material for the film. Yet while these tools allowed me to capture fleeting impressions, I also noticed how they pulled me away from the very experience I was trying to reach.
Instead of simply being present in the forest, I often found myself caught up in questions of framing: Which angle to choose? What perspective to take? How to extract an image? In these moments, the technology became a barrier as much as an aid, shifting my focus from sensing and feeling the place to thinking about how to represent it.
The film reflects this tension between presence and detachment. Fragments of the forest, coastline, and atmospheric conditions are interwoven with scans of the surrounding environment. What emerges is not a fixed portrait of a place, but a record of an unsettled relationship — between body and landscape, attention and distraction, technology and the desire to simply be.
